My friend Taz

My friend Taz left the care of his mom and his other furry siblings last Thursday and they're all heart-broken. You see Taz and I both have wheelchairs from Eddie's Wheels and Taz's mom, Kerry found me on Eddie's Wheels' FB page. And unlike the movie Twins with Arnold and Danny, we really looked like "twins", with the exception of my white chest patch and left front foot.

Taz was found by his mom in a park about 11-1/2 years ago and he's been with her ever since. Taz's ancestry is kind of unknown so his mom asked my peeps what my background was (American Cocker Spaniel and Affenpinscher - that's what the people who rescued and kept my mom said). His mom said that when Taz's fur grows out he's a "Wooly Mammoth", just like me.

We would have gone on walkies together but Taz lives in Michigan and I'm out in Vancouver, on Canada's westcoast so we never made it. Anyways, I'd really appreciate if you would leave a message below and we'll send them to Taz's mom.

Thank you.

ps. No more "Rainbow Bridge" crossings this year. We've had enough already.

TAZ

  3. You did look like twinsies. It is sad to lose another friend but now he is running on all four feet over the rainbow bridge

  4. Oh we are so very sorry about your friend.
We bet he's traded his wheels in for wings and is looking out for you.

  8. Taz certainly was beautiful. It is always such an emotional time when a furiend goes to da bridge. But, I bet Taz had a wonderful life with his mom.
    May he rest in peace.

  9. Whoa, Taz really is your spitting image Sammy. That's so nice your parents get to be pen pals, so you can keep up on each other. Bet Taz would love to come visit and see the orcas and those beautiful Vancouver forests someday.

  13. This was my post a couple of days after we lost Taz. I thought those of you who are Sammy's friends would appreciate it.

Yesterday afternoon, I took Charly and Han to the state park for a hike. At the top of the last hill before reaching the beach, I stopped, looked out over the water, and said out loud, "I love you Taz".

I thought, "now what?" And then... " Just look.". I looked out at the sky, and there was Taz, perfectly shaped in the clouds. His ears were flying back. His legs outstretched, his tail , a perfect curl. I stood there, smiling. I couldn't believe it.

I finally looked away. I didn't want to watch him disappear. I couldn't help but look once more. He was still there. I kicked the ball for Charly and with a lighter heart, went down to the beach.

Later, as I walked the beach, I thought, "Oh, you just made that up. You could probably imagine Taz in any cloud. But no matter how hard I tried, I could not make another cloud look like Taz.

On the night before Taz got sick, I dreamed that he could use his legs again.

Taz, you will live forever in my heart. Love ya buddy.
