1,000 Yard Stare

Hey dad. Yes Sam? What's up with you and mom? You both have that 1,000 yard stare today.

Well Sam, 10 years ago, mom and dad had to let our first kid go in peace. His name was Wupper and he was 18 years old when he left for the Bridge. He was born deaf but we think that he made up for it by barking so loud, the folks on the East Coast could hear him.

10 weeks earlier in 2004, we lost Wupper's younger brother, Max.
Max was 15 years old when we had to let him go. 2004 was so bad that your mom and dad skipped celebrating Christmas that year. No tree, no turkey. Just sadness.

The Boys

The porch light's on again? Yes Sam, until tomorrow morning when we go for our morning walk.
So their spirits can find their way back home again, right dad? Yes Sam. That's right.

  1. There's a dog lover in Oregon who has tears in her eyes right now. Sometimes life can be most difficult and sad, can't it Sam? Peace and blessings from our home to yours tonight.

  2. We never forget them do we, Sam. Huge hugs for your mom and dad ♥

    Love ya lots♥
    Mitch and Molly

  3. OH the Wonderful Loving Memories they left for your mom and dad.

  4. why do their spirits need to find their way home when they are already there - right in your hearts and memories?

  5. 2012 was our awful year. We lost Tsar in April and then Samba and Sky went to the bridge just five days apart in November.Sometimes being a pet person is so painful.

  6. *tears*
You are in our thoughts today, Sam and your mom & dad.

  7. Howdy Sam. Mum understands the 1000 yard stare too. Your Wupper and Max looked lovely. We hope your mum and dad can share a smile too remembering the happy times they all had together.
No worries, and love, Stella and Rory
P.S. If our mum was having another baby she'd be in the Guinness Book of Records for the oldest mum in the worrrrrrrrld bwahahahaha.

  8. Soft, gently husky wooooos Sam,

    Nuk & Isis

  9. Such cute looking dogs Wupper and Max were. They may be at the bridge but they are never forgotten.
We had to say goodbye to Midget in August. She was 15 and Blu's older sister. She is missed a lot.
